Parks and Recreation
The Parks and Recreation Department is comprised of the various parks and recreation areas throughout the City, including:
New River Park offers an Olympic size pool, waterslide, tennis courts, basketball courts, shleter, picnic & grill facilities, horseshoe pits, fitness trail & playground. Contacts: Maintenance - Public Works 304/256-1741; shelter rental 256-1748; pool 256-1795
Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine - underground mine tours, coal camp, museum, gift shop, campground; contact 304/256-1747

Shoemaker Square - located Uptown beside the Courthouse; fountain, gazebo, seating; events; contact Beckley Renaissance 304/256-1776 (A new mini-park is also being built on Neville Street)
Freedom Skate Park - located on Eisenhower Drive
Lewis McMannus Memorial Honor Trail - 3.6 mile trail from Mabscott to Cranberry Creek Crossing with spur to New River Park. The paved recreational trail is available for hiking, biking & skating. Maintenance - 304/256-1741; Events - 304/256-1776
