Beckley Renaissance & the City of Beckley organize special events and projects in the community.
2010 Events / Festivals include:
Feb. 27 - Beckley's Bridal, Prom & Special Occasions Fair at Tamarack (organized by Beckley Newspaper)
April 24 - Spring Parade to celebrate the Beckley Woman's Club 100th Anniversary, Boy Scouts 100th Anniversary & Theatre WV 50th Anniversary, 10 am
May 21 - Sept. 3 - Fridays in the Park (weekly lunch concerts) at Word Park on Neville Street, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
May 22 - Sweet Treats Saturday - dessert tasting festival - noon - 2:30 p.m. at Word Park & Uptown businesses; Sweetest Baby Pageant & Sweetest Kids Photo Contest (details and pre-register by calling 304-252-4769), meet TWV Willy Wonka character, music by Theatre WV Musical Theatre Class, plus dancing demos by Froggy Mountain Dancers (RCCOA) & YMCA Zumba. Tickets sold at Trio Consignment, Youth Museum, RCCA & at the event.
$5 = 6 sample tickets, prize entry & Peoples Choice ballot. Rain location: SMT Arts Centre, 200 S. Kanawha St.

June 4 - First Friday Music & a Movie at Word Park; 7 pm - Judah's Lion; 8:30 pm movie theme: dogs
June 16 - July 7 - Wednesdays in the Square - lunchtime music series at Shoemaker Square, 11:45 - 12:45
June 26 - 5th Annual Bugs & Bikes, specialty show for Volkswagons & Motorcycles, registration from 5 - 7 pm, $10 (shirts to first 50), specialty trophies, prizes, plus live music by Slick Willy with Jimmy Pino from 6 - 8 pm at Word Park, food vendors
July 2 - First Friday Music & a Movie at Word Park; 7 pm - dance demonstration; 8:30 movie theme: dancing
July 4 - Fireworks in the Armory / Raleigh County Convention Center area; 9:30 pm
Mid-July - Sept. - Tailgate Farmers Market; 10 am - 1 pm; Wednesdays at Trail lot on 3rd Ave; Fridays at Word Park on Neville Street, contact WVU Ext. 304/255-9321
July 16 - Cruise-in Car Show; vehicle registration at YMCA Sports Complex 2 - 6:30 pm (in conjunction with the Friends of Coal Auto Fair - combined registration - www.friendsofcoalautofair.com); cruise to town at 6:30 pm; Uptown Show 7 - 9 pm; food vendors, music by Robbie Carrico (American Idol Season 7 Top 20 finalist)
August 6 - First Friday Music & a Movie at Word Park; 7 pm - music by Ann Sumpter; 8:30 pm movie theme: football
August 7 - WVAFF Double Pageant - Miss, Teen, & Mrs. pageant for the Beckley Kids Classic Festival and Appalachian Festival at Tamarack; Call 304/252-4769 for details.

October 2 - Chili Night, 5 - 9 pm, chili competition (see registration form on right - accepting applications from August 15 - Sept. 14 or until spaces are full); entertainment - 3 stages
October 30 - Tailgate Halloween, organized by the Youth Museum, 11 am - 1 pm

December 4 - Beckley's Annual Christmas Parade, 1 pm, Theme: Christmas through the Years (Pick a year or a decade)
