May 19 to September 1 – Friday in the Park – Beckley Events’ committee invites everyone to attend the 27th Annual Friday in the Park series. The concert series begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs until 1:00 p.m. each Friday through September 1, weather permitting, at Word Park on Neville Street. Food vendors offer lunch items for sale.
Entertainment during the month of June includes performances by Billy Payne on June 2, Darrell Ramsey (Double D & his new band Dark Horse) on June 9, and David Runion on June 16. The June 23 Friday will feature music Thomas Danley, plus Theatre West Virginia will sing excerpts from Footloose. The Planetary Boardwalk band will perform during the Piney Creek Watershed Festival held at the June 30 Friday.

June 24 – Motorcycle & Car Show – will be held on Saturday, June 24 along Main, Heber & Neville Streets from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The streets will be reserved for show line-up beginning at 5:00 pm and vehicle registration will take place from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
The vehicle entry fee is $10. Specialty awards will be presented around 7:40 pm. Everyone is invited to visit the show, check out the vehicles & enjoy free entertainment & activities.
Live music will be performed by Jack Evans – The Voice of Elvis. Several food vendors will be on hand and children’s activities will be available.
Also that evening, a pinball tournament is scheduled at the Brown Dog Bottom arcade located in The Underground. If interested in more details about the tournament, call Jim Chambers at 304-573-4332.

August 26 – Taste of Beckley, 5:30 – 8:30 pm –As one of several events planned for the Appalachian Festival, Taste of Beckley will be featured on Saturday, August 27th from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. in uptown Beckley. The festive block party will offer a variety of food, entertainment & fun for all. More than 20 food vendors representing restaurants, organizations and event vendors will set up booths along Main, Heber & Neville Streets selling their specialties to the community. Vendors sell items on their own, so tickets are not required. A variety of food from entrees to desserts and fair food will be served, and a few non-food booths will be on-hand. A panel of celebrity judges and the public will vote for their favorites. If judged as the best in any of the categories, the entry will receive a certificate to display. Celebrity judges will vote for individual categories including best appetizer, entree’, sandwich, dessert, and most attractive booth. The public can vote for the Peoples’ Choice Booth. Entertainment will be featured near the intersection of Fayette & Main Streets. A Kids Zone area will be offered by Faith Community Church and Active Southern WV. The annual Oreo stacking contest by Southern Communications will also take place between 6:30 & 7:00 pm.Read More >>
