The mission of the Southern WV Preparedness Partnership (SWVPP) is to:
"Create a sustainable public/private partnership that gives our region the ability to mitigate, pepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters."
The SWVPP is designed to incorporate all facets of the public and private sectors within our region. The partnership is open to all members of the community and will play a key role during all phases of emergency management. This includes the emergency responders, representatives from local government, business owners and operators, non-governmental organizations, as well as citizen groups. The SWVPP is dependent upon such diversity to meet it's various objectives.
There are certain individuals who have been named as officers within the SWVPP and are charged with carrying out various roles and responsibilities. These include:
Chaiman Kevin Taylor, City of Beckley-Director of Emergency Services
Vice-Chaiman Ellen Taylor, Beckley/Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce-President & CEO
Secretary Michelle Trickett, Raleigh County Health Department-Regional Epidemiologist
Treasurer Ann Worley, City of Beckley-Common Council Ward 2
The SWVPP meets on a monthly basis to discuss various topics of interest. Such meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of each month, begin at 9:00 a.m., and are conducted at the Raleigh County Commission on Aging building located at 1614 South Kanawha Street in Beckley.
In addition, the SWVPP provides numerous educational and training opportunities designed to elevate our individual and collective levels of readiness and resiliency. Past offerings have included incident management, mass care, cyber security, and well as business continuity planning.
