Gary Sutphin

Gary Sutphin is the Recorder/Treasurer for the City of Beckley. Much more than just an accounting position, the Recorder/Treasurer also serves as the chief financial officer, chief records custodian, chief election officer, chief tax officer, and director of personnel for the City, to name only a few of his many statutory duties.

The Recorder/Treasurer's office is responsible for developing and managing the City's budget, maintaining the City's charter and code of ordinances, maintaining all records of the City and making them available for public review, managing city elections, collection of B&O and other taxes, and managing the personnel of the various departments of the City.
